Set in Pune, this 1981 Hindi drama centers on a seemingly ordinary well-off couple, Balraj and Purnima Kohli, and their two sons, one of whom becomes engaged to a young medical student. The story turns when it emerges that Purnima is actually Balraj's second wife, having married him after his first wife Sharada suffered a head injury and lapsed into a coma-like state at a mental facility fourteen years earlier. When Sharada unexpectedly regains consciousness and returns home unaware of how much time has passed, the family scrambles to hide the truth from her to protect her fragile mental state.
