Barsaat Ki Ek Raat

Set in a Darjeeling tea estate, this 1981 bilingual drama follows a disguised police officer who confronts a tyrannical merchant's son terrorizing local villagers through violence and coercion. As he repeatedly clashes with the young thug, the officer also grows close to the blind daughter of an estate manager who has been resisting the merchant's corrupt dealings. Directed by Shakti Samanta and adapted from Shaktipada Rajguru's novel, the film was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Bengali with Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee Gulzar, Amjad Khan and Utpal Dutt in the main roles.
