Balettan centers on Balan, a warm-hearted family man in a Kerala village who is beloved by neighbors for his generosity and love of amateur theatre, even as his carelessness with money lands him in serious debt and legal trouble. After his father dies, Balan learns of a hidden family secret involving another woman and a half-sister, and he quietly tries to support them while shielding his own family from the truth. As suspicion grows within his household and an opportunist tries to exploit the secret for blackmail, Balan must navigate these pressures to protect both families and win their acceptance in the community.
