A wealthy businessman comes back incognito to his home village in Alappuzha, where he had once worked as a servant for a landowning family before being driven away and building a new life elsewhere. Reuniting with an old friend, he decides to bankroll a film project partly to gain the villagers' esteem and partly to get closer to the landlord's daughter, whom he had cared for since youth but who has feelings for someone else. His financial generosity toward her family and his marriage proposal set off a tangled romantic conflict involving her, her true love, and himself.
