This 1955 Hindi action-comedy, directed by S. M. Sriramulu Naidu as a remake of his own Tamil hit Malaikkallan, follows Shobha, a young woman taken in by her late father's friend Charandas and his wife after her father's death. When Shobha is mysteriously abducted and later returns unharmed, she reveals she was cared for by a man called Azaad, who turns out to be a notorious bandit rather than the wealthy figure she described. Her declared wish to marry him leaves her adoptive family torn over whether to accept the match.
