Arasiyal is a 1997 Tamil political drama directed by R. K. Selvamani, starring Mammootty as an incorruptible official who takes on a corrupt politician after capturing a dangerous international criminal. His crackdown on graft, which also implicates his own relatives, sets off a chain of personal and political conflicts involving his family and love interest, played by Shilpa Shirodkar and Roja. The film follows the escalating fallout as his enemies seek revenge against him and those close to him.
