This 2007 Hindi-language drama follows Anwar, a young Muslim man from Lucknow studying old Hindu temples, who falls for Mehru, a tenant's daughter who dreams of moving to America. When Mehru chooses a future with another suitor over him, jealousy and heartbreak set off a chain of tragic events that eventually leave Anwar isolated inside an ancient temple, where his presence is misread with dangerous consequences. Based on a short story by Priyamvad, the film blends romance and social tension against the backdrop of religious and class divides in India.
