Angaar

Set in a Mumbai slum near Andheri's Lokhandwala Complex, this 1992 Hindi crime drama follows Jaikishan, a jobless man labeled a troublemaker for his blunt criticism of widespread corruption. He takes in an orphaned girl, Mili, and shelters her alongside his own family, but his refusal to cooperate with a powerful builder's family—headed by a construction magnate, his violent brother, and their outwardly kind father—puts him on a collision course with them. When he is later accused of murdering the brother in a public killing, his arrest throws his household into turmoil. The film is said to have drawn inspiration from the life of underworld figure Karim Lala.
