Set in Kozhikode's Palayam market, this 2007 Malayalam drama centers on Anwar Ali, known as Ali Bhai, who becomes a respected protector of the market's working-class community after being falsely accused of theft and fleeing his family home as a boy. The story explores his bonds with a circle of friends, dependents and admirers in the market, drawing on the traditions of the Barami Muslim community from which he originates. His settled life is disrupted when figures from his past resurface, including the man responsible for his childhood exile and a newcomer with ulterior motives.
