Achanak follows an army major whose contentment with his wife unravels when he learns of her involvement with his closest friend, leading him to violent retaliation and a subsequent flight from the authorities. Wounded during his escape, he ends up in a hospital where his interactions with the medical staff form a central part of the story. Directed by Gulzar and written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, the 1973 Hindi film stars Vinod Khanna, features no musical numbers, and draws on a real-life 1958 murder case for its narrative.
