This 1965 Tamil swashbuckler follows Manimaran, a doctor punished for aiding rebels against the ruler of his homeland, who is sold into slavery on a nearby island and later swept into a life of piracy. Along the way he clashes with the island's captors, contends with pirate raiders, and draws the affection of the local princess, all while trying to protect his fellow captives. Directed by B. R. Panthulu and starring M. G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, it drew inspiration from earlier pirate adventure films.
