Aadum Koothu (2005), directed by T. V. Chandran, follows a village college student, Manimekala, who sees strange visions no one else believes—images that turn out to be scenes from an unfinished film playing through a bangle her boyfriend Muthu gave her, made of melted celluloid. Investigating with Muthu and a retired teacher who once acted in that abandoned film, they uncover a real-life story from the late 1970s about a young director and lead actress caught up in a landlord's cruelty and political unrest. The Tamil drama stars Sheran, Navya Nair, Prakash Raj, Seeman, and Manorama, and though it never got a theatrical release, it screened at festivals and later on Zee Tamil.
