Set among daily laborers at a Pollachi market, the story follows Pattas and his three friends who befriend Indhu, a young woman claiming to be wealthy but living alone in a hostel while her father works overseas. Their lives become entangled with a local rowdy who extorts market vendors and a man just released from prison seeking revenge for his sister's death, while Indhu's own family troubles in Madras draw the friends into danger. The narrative builds toward whether Indhu and Pattas end up together and whether the ex-convict avenges his sister.
